 In my book, The Frog Prince , the princess welcomes the frog into her home.She keeps her promise to the frog. He eats from her plate.

 This is one of the images in my book, The Princess and the Pea. We see the princess attempting to sleep on the 13 mattress stacked high with a pea under the mattress. The princess sleeps poorly. Find out how the story ends. 

 This is another image from my book, The  Ugly Duckling. I know you should not have favorites but I love this picture.  The ugly duckling grows up and see other swans. He wishes he could join them. This watercolor image shows  the movement of the water and the swans. I hope you enjoy it too. Pat O'Brien

  During The Corona Virus Outbreak I had time to work on my three books: the Ugly Duckling, The Frog Prince, The Princess and the Pea. It gave me the time to edit my watercolor paintings until I was finally satisfied with them.

  Here is another image in my book, The Ugly Duckling. Watercolors have a wonderful quality to the storytelling. The watercolors add layers of transparent color one on top of the other. You start with light washes. You continue with transparent washes as your washes get darker. Hopefully your end result is a beautiful image. Watercolors can have a mind of their own.  It can be very challenging. This image was started  and it was OK.  I went back in later to improve the painting with more layers. I added more darker layers to make this image better. It really contrasts the white swans and the dark background.  Pat O'Brien
